Overview
Smart agriculture encompasses all agricultural processes that aim to increase efficiency rather than capacity. The goal is to create an efficient and optimal ratio of input and output through intelligent and goal-oriented technologies. To achieve these goals, an optimized process using combining several intelligent technologies via innovative internet of things (IoT) network infrastructure is proposed as a solution. Farmers nowadays are already using proven smart farming solutions, for example, different robots that work without human intervention and process data transfer. In the future, methods and digital solutions – for example, monitoring, warnings and recommendations within the real-time machine to machine (M2M) communication including user-friendly communications (via smartphone) will be also possible as smart farming solutions, which eventually will lead to human healthy life years (HLY), environmental protection and additional cost savings for farmers. The future concept shows that intelligent smart farming platforms are combined with innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the IoT. As a result, telecommunication network provides a successful solution allowing to improve and supply agricultural products in urban areas (small garden beds as well as in greenhouses and indoor greenhouses), but also creates a more intelligent and social way of life through communities.
RTU Summer School is pursuing the global IoT trend and is willing to integrate long-existing connection solutions for smart and sustainable agriculture.
By joining the IoT Summer school participants will dive into a two-week program, where academic classes and the practical group workshops are combined with industry field trips and cultural, leisure activities.
Programme structure
The proposed IoT Summer school program topics are related to Green Automation and Smart Agriculture:
-Internet of Things (IoT) and Sensor Networks
-Challenges and Trends for Fifth-Generation (5G) Technology Implementation
-High-Speed Data Telecommunication Networks
-Design of Telecommunications and Computer Networks architectures
-Green Environment Smart Technologies and further perspectives
