Entry qualification

Other Applications for bachelor`s and the first level of professional higher education studies will be accepted from students who have successfully completed at least one academic year of studies (at their home higher education institution or at a Latvian higher education institution, if they already have been studying in Latvia) at the moment of application (February, March 2025). If a student wants to continue her/his studies in Latvia for one more year, she/he has to re-apply for the Latvian scholarship. The Latvian scholarship can be awarded not more than for two consecutive terms to one individual. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations in English along with verified copies of the original. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Overview

In accordance with bilateral cooperation agreements in education and science concluded between the Latvian government and a list of partnership countries, Latvia offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The Latvian state scholarship can be applied for by citizens of countries that have either signed an agreement with Latvia or offer their own scholarships to Latvian citizens. Please check the list of to learn if you qualify www.viaa.gov.lv/en/latvian-state-scholarships

Scholarship applications for bachelor’s and first-level professional higher education studies will be accepted from students who have successfully completed at least one academic year of studies (either at their home higher education institution or one in Latvia) at the moment of application (February, March 2025).

If you have decided to apply for Latvian Government Scholarship basing on Studies at RTU the following procedure shall be followed, to receive required documents for Latvian State Scholarship application from RTU:

1. Submit your online application here: Latvian state scholarships – Riga Technical University (rtu.lv),.select your chosen study programme as the 2nd option (mandatory);

2. Upload your educational qualifications documents, proof of English proficiency, passport, and your CV (formatted according to Europass);

3. Pay the application fee. The invoice can be found under FINANCE section. You may use ONLINE PAYMENT OPTION or make a transfer via bank using details indicated on invoice;

4. After registration fee has been paid, attach transaction receipt on your profile under DOCUMENTS section. Depending on the type of transaction, the payment may take up to 7 business days to reach our account. If you have paid properly before the deadline, you have nothing to worry about;

5. When payment will reach our account, INVOICE will be marked as PAID. When receiving message that INVOICE has been paid, you can SUBMIT your online application. After application SUBMITTED, RTU will invite you for a pre-recorded video interview and inform about other specific admission requirements for your chosen programme;

6. After all above done RTU will evaluate application, decide on your admission; and issue required documentation for your application for Latvian State Scholarship, this may take up to 5 business days after recording interview and done with math test if that applies;
